Lily Fans Shine Again – UPDATE December 4, 2013
Snow-laden balsamsThe first big snowfall of late fall has dumped 10.5 inches of snow on the front deck of WRI. However, it pales in comparison with over 3 feet of snow reported along parts of the north shore of Lake Superior—and the storm isn’t over yet!
Joanne Livingston’s Teddy Bear creation, inspired by Hope, made the news at http://www.northlandsnewscenter.com/news/local/Most-Realistic-Teddy-Bear-to-support-bear-research-in-Ely-234329741.html. Just one look at Joanne’s bear and it grabs you. Something about it fits what we want to see. Apparently the Northland News Channel felt the same. This teddy bear auction is one more creative way Lily Fans are finding to support the mission of research and education.
Taxidermy platformsAnother example is the Herrell’s stepping forward to make taxidermy platforms like we mentioned last night. The moose platform is reassembled now and looking great sitting nearly where it will permanently hold the mount (donated by Lily Fans) when the time is right for the moose to move there. Right now the moose and woodland caribou are near the entryway letting any visitors know that an expansion is underway and that they will eventually be moving into the Northwoods Ecology Hall.
Thank you for all you do.
