Bears Are Slowing Down – UPDATE September 27, 2013
Red mapleThe bears are still capable of bursts of energy to feed or flee if they have to, but the GPS-equipped bears are sitting tight now through most of the day and later into the night. We’ll see if that holds true tomorrow or if they will prove we jumped to that conclusion too soon.
Leaves are turning quickly now. Red maples are living up to their name, and aspens are mostly yellow. Leaves are just beginning to fall. All will be down within 3 weeks if they hold to their usual schedule.
Today was a day of writing while monitoring the bears via the computer.
The North American Bear Center has negotiated a special discounted rate of only $50 (regular price $159) for any of our members, supporters, followers and friends who would like to attend the International Wolf Symposium in Duluth, Minnesota, on Sunday, October 13th. Leading biologists and researchers from around the world will be presenting - including Lynn Rogers (at 8:30 AM and 8:50 AM). Details and a chance to register are here IWC_Symposium_letter.pdf. The North American Bear Center will receive 20% of registration fees from anyone who signs up through this link (the link didn't work last night but does now).
Thank you for all you do.
