Eyes Opening for Sure – UPDATE February 19, 2013

Lily and cub with one open eye!Lily and cub with one open eye!The left eye of the lighter faced cub (the female?) is well open and the right eye seems open a tiny bit.  We saw little of the darker faced cub and didn’t notice any open eyes.  Maybe others were watching and caught more.  Here’s the video of today's den activity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPePIYi2KMg.

Telltale eyeshine from open eyeTelltale eyeshine from open eyeLynn leaves early tomorrow (the 20th) on his first non-working vacation alone with Donna in perhaps 20 years.  It’s time!  They’re both looking forward to a relaxing time together in the warmth of a southern state; canoeing, talking, walking, and spotting birds they don’t usually get to see in winter.  Goals include seeing a male Painted Bunting and partaking in the local Creole cuisine of shrimp and crayfish.

Cub on the looseCub on the loose!Lynn is traveling without a computer—a true getaway!  New places, new sites, new sounds, new smells, all good for the soul.  The cubs’ eyes will likely be wide open by the next time he sees the Den Cam.  With Lynn gone, Sue continues to work but will be taking a break from the updates.  There will be no updates until Lynn gets back on Monday Feb 25.

Thank you for all you do.
