Lily’s Problem Den Cam – UPDATE February 7, 2013

Sparks fly as roof is welded in place - Feb 7, 2013Sparks fly as roof is welded in place - Feb 7, 2013The equipment that was supposed to be a leap forward in image quality is proving to have problems providing any image at all.  It has been a continuing struggle to keep the video from Lily’s den streaming and the loss of heat at the den shed recently seems to have exacerbated problems.  The Technology Team is working hard to resolve the issues and will be trying a number of things over the next few days.  We are all anxious to watch Lily care for those noisy cubs—and maybe even catch a glimpse of them—but we do enjoy watching the action in Jewel’s den.  We’ve come to expect yearlings to suckle in the den—something we hadn’t dreamed of until a couple years ago.

Jewel shakes - Feb 7, 2013Jewel shakes - Feb 7, 2013A video of an itchy Jewel today is posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO7MzqwvqIM.  Interestingly, Jewel’s Den Cam uses the same equipment as Lily’s and is doing just fine.  It’s in a different location and is using ‘on the grid’ electricity, but otherwise it is the same set up.  Puzzling.

Floor plan of Hope Learning Center addition - Feb 7, 2013Floor plan of Hope Learning Center addition - Feb 7, 2013The progress on the Hope Learning Center was the metal foundation of the roof being welded onto the steel rafters.  All we could see from inside was showers of sparks with each weld by workers on the roof.

Many thanks to Lily Fans who have already donated $1,660 to the Valentines for Hope’s Learning Center at  http://givemn.razoo.com/story/Valentines-For-The-Hope-Learning-Center. The purpose is to carry on Hope’s legacy of learning by raising $10,000 for classroom technical equipment:

  • Widescreen theater projector
  • Two SMARTboard Interactive Touch Whiteboard 800 Series
  • Two SMARTboard mobile stands
  • Surround sound speakers
  • Accessories
  • Compatible laptop computer
  • Speaker’s podium

Thank you so much!

As a major snowstorm bears down on New England, we think of our many friends and family there and hope they safely weather the storm.

Thank you for all you do.
