Peace on Earth – UPDATE December 25, 2012
Peace On Earth - Dec 25, 2012On this Christmas Day we wish peace on earth for people and bears everywhere. The picture is by Buck Wilde, one of the contributors to your Bear Encounters book coming out this spring. Lynn recognizes the island as Nanajiak Island in Hallo Bay in Katmai National Park, Alaska. It’s one of the places Lynn and Buck lead groups to see grizzly bears close up. Hallo Bay is truly a place where there is peace on earth for bears. Grizzlies and people mingle there without a problem. The grizzlies fish or graze or play or just walk by while people watch unafraid. Lynn hopes to return there one of these years to show people the wonders of that special area.
Jewel and cubs - Dec 25, 2012We’re waiting for embed codes from WildEarth.TV to get the two wild Den Cams online. The Christmas holiday has slowed things a bit. Looking at this picture of Jewel, we see we need to zoom in tighter on her to brighten up the daylight pictures and get more detail in the bears. The nighttime infrared images are fine.
Donna Rogers’ surgery went well. She is back home resting. Probably her greatest delight of these past few days was reading the pages of good wishes from Lily Fans that we printed out for her. We read your messages during the anxious ride down and she said it made her feel better to know people cared.
We're working on a video of footage captured from Jewel's den cam. Check the bearstudy YouTube channel later this evening or tomorrow at http://www.youtube.com/user/bearstudy#g/u.
We hope you all are having a Merry Christmas.
Thank you for all you do.
