A New View – UPDATE November 18, 2012

Ted walks on the ice! - Nov 18, 2012Ted walks on the ice! - Nov 17, 2012  Today, we moved the pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera at the Bear Center to a new position to include a view of the construction site as well as the bear enclosure. The cement for the foundation should be poured tomorrow or Tuesday. The pre-cast walls will arrive and be raised into place in a few weeks.

Yesterday, the regular pond cam caught great footage of Ted carefully walking on the ice on the pond—all 663 pounds of him! It’s a testament to the cold weather we’ve been having in the past few weeks. A video of his adventure is posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv44Fe8xmTo.

Today was the last day of the rifle deer season. Tomorrow we plan to locate Faith and Daisy. The property where Faith is likely denned is owned by a group of hunters. We obtained permission to access their posted property and have only been waiting for the deer season to end.

With temps in the high 40s, today felt like a gift. It will be warm again tomorrow and we wonder if the bears will be more alert and possibly active.

Thank you for all you do.
