Sue Visits Family – UPDATE October 11, 2012
Tamaracks - Oct 11, 2012A New Hampshire wedding means 4 days without updates as Sue visits family and celebrates the wedding of her niece. Sue is the only one here with the knowledge to not only post the updates but edit and add to them as well. It didn’t seem right to make her lug a heavy notebook computer for such a short trip. Fortunately, it’s a relatively quiet time when most bears have denned and she can take a well-deserved break.
Frost - Oct 11, 2012Today we tied up some loose ends before she leaves. Sue will be back posting updates on Tuesday, October 16. By then, we hope to have found Aster in a den and can greet Sue with the news that the hunting season is over and all the radio-collared bears are safe in dens.
It’s the time of year when the last trees are turning—the tamaracks (Larix laricina). Most of the other trees have dropped their leaves. Mornings are often frosty.
Thank you for all you do.
