Juliet Trying Out a Den – UPDATE September 23, 2012
Juliet, Sam, Sophie, and Sybil are trying out a den. They arrived there at 8:23 PM last evening but didn't enter the den until 9:13 AM this morning according to Juliet's GPS readings. She remained inside until 2:45 PM this afternoon. She's still out but near the den at this moment. As far as we know, Juliet is the first of the radio-collared mothers with cubs to enter a den.
The den is one we know. Jo and Victoria raked bedding into it last fall but eventually moved to another den where they spent the winter. Juliet originally checked this one out on Sept 14 and on Sept 16 she checked out the den Jo and Victoria used last winter. We’ll see if Juliet and family stay or eventually move on.
The bright sun and blue sky on this beautiful day helped show off the red maples that are now in peak color. Following up on last night’s update, two other reasons we like living here are the beauty and wildlife of this “land of ten thousand lakes.”
As we go through each day, there are many reminders of the many ways Lily Fans have touched our lives.
Thank you for all you do.
