Festivities Begin – UPDATE July 19, 2012
Lily Fan's festive car - July 19, 2012Lily Fans are flocking into Ely, and their cars show why they are here. Motels and hotels are full—some totally full of Lily Fans who booked a year in advance. Merchants are happy. Lily Fans who gather at the Bear Center somehow recognize other Lily Fans. Smiles glow all around. We are looking forward to meeting as many Lily Fans as possible. Each year we know more names and faces. It feels like a family reunion with everyone on the same page. It’s the happiest weekend of the year.
Proud Lily Fan's car - July 19, 2012At the Bear Center, all 6 ducklings and their mother made it back across the highway and into the pond again. http://youtu.be/yAw5reO1S0Q We are surprised that Ted, Lucky, and Honey aren’t paying attention to the new visitors in the pond. Could it be that mother nature is providing enough richness in the enclosure that a few ducklings are not worthy of much attention? The mother has been a regular visitor to the pond for months (or years).
Lily Fan's sentiment - July 19, 2012In the woods, the wild bears are apparently finding enough richness, too. The GPS locations again show them out working hard for a variety of foods. We are into the peak of the berry season with hazelnuts and some of the late ripening berries still to ripen. We’ll follow the bears to see what they are eating and where they travel to find the foods. Ursula is in Lily’s territory, and we’ll be watching how that works out.
Thank you for all you do.
