Recovering – UPDATE July 11, 2012
Wounded yearling in tree - July 11, 2012As usual after a Black Bear Field Course, we are immersed in the good feelings of 3 days in the company of good people—now friends. After the course folks left, we homed in on the telemetry signals of the wounded yearling to give her the daily dose of antibiotics.
Wounded yearling high in tree - July 11, 2012To our surprise, we found her treed by Lily. Lily moved on. We don’t know how long the yearling was treed before we got there, but it was 2 hours and 39 minutes before she came down and licked up her antibiotics disguised as sweetened condensed milk.
Wounded yearling - July 11, 2012We located Faith and Aster by telemetry and spent the rest of the day indoors catching up on data filing, paperwork, and tending to Bear Center functions. Today, the Bear Center Pond Cam was down and the pond was drained for repair. The City will refill the pond tomorrow. Hopefully, that will be the end of the pond problems and the waterfalls will work again.
Thank you for all you do.
