Lily and_Faith_-_20110920We don’t know how much fell, but we wonder how any fire could survive it.  We hope as much rain fell on the fire as fell here at the Research Center.  It will be interesting to see the reports tomorrow.  We heard that the firefighters enjoyed the sandwiches and rolls we gave them from you.

The rain did put a damper of sorts on the pond repair at the Bear Center, though.

Lily looks_back_-_20110920We didn’t get out to check on the non GPSed radio-collared bears today, but if the GPSed bears are any indication, everything is fine.  Pictures are Lily and Faith.

We’ll see if Juliet moves as a result of the rain.  She is in a lowland alder swamp that was extra dry because of the drought.  Maybe the rain will show her how wet it can become.  Maybe we took her GPS unit off too soon.

Meanwhile, you are showing your talent in putting together facts about bears.  It is so impressive and gratifying to see how you pull together information.  And meeting Lily fans, as we did today at the Bear Center is, like we’ve said before, like talking to family.  We mentioned Jewel, and faces lit up knowing exactly who she is and how she relates to Lily and June.

We continue to read your comments from the survey—thoughtful stuff that can help.  Lily’s fans are a great bunch contributing in most cases to a happy exchange among friends on the Internet while the bears show us a little more each day about how they live and relate to each other.  You are contributing ideas to make things even better.

Thank you for all you do.
