Off to Ottawa
All the GPSed bears are safe as we get ready to leave for the International Bear Conference early tomorrow afternoon. Putting together the Power Point presentation was a team effort. We’ll see how it’s received in Ottawa on Friday afternoon, July 22.
With Braveheart radio-collared, we caught up to her today with a camera this time (pictures left). We also captured a brief video posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L36q5E-fcEY.
A new thing is happening. The North American Bear Center and the Wildlife Research Institute need your help to learn what’s important to the people following Lily’s family and our research. A professional team put together a fast-moving survey with room for comments so we can learn your thoughts and experiences. The link to an online survey will go out by email to those who previously signed up for e-newsletters on the bear.org or the mailing list on bearstudy.org. For those who don’t receive the email, a link to the survey will be posted online sometime tomorrow night. Inquiring minds here want to know what you think.
Your responses will be anonymous unless you choose to include your name. Your information is secure and won’t be shared. The survey takes only a few minutes plus time to add comments. Please complete it by August 1st. As a thank you, when you complete the survey online, you will automatically be sent to a link where you can download probably the cutest picture to come out of the Lily family journey. It is high resolution and signed by the photographer (Lynn).
On your amazing voting for Soudan Underground Mine State Park, you surpassed yourself. A Lily fan had the idea to see if you could beat the old voting record of 3,193 votes in an hour. You registered 7,412 for a new record! To vote, go to http://www.livepositively.com/#/americasparks/leaderboard and vote over and over.
We don’t know how we can write updates from the conference, so we’ll have a lot of catching up to do when we get back at 1 AM on July 24 for the last day of the Lilypad Picnic. Thank you so much for the kind words posted under ‘Meet the Researchers.’ We’re looking forward to the picnic.
Thank you for all you do.
