Lucky, Holly, Faces Out the Window - UPDATE February 11, 2017

A Lily Fan caught 4 ½ minutes of action, mainly by Holly. At 1:58, Lucky lifted his head and Holly whirled to look. They continue to act like cautious roommates, not the snuggling, playing bears of a year ago. https://youtu.be/IsmkQdzfMCEPine martenPine marten

Red squirrelRed squirrelIt was a day at the desk with close-up faces letting me know I was not alone. Ms Marten was most endearing with her cute face, but the red squirrel was interesting as it demonstrated how to eat a sunflower seed. It had bitten off half the black outer shell and nibbled the exposed half of the sunflower heart. I didn’t get to see what happened after the squirrel nibbled the heart down to the black shell.

The pileated woodpecker female (dark forehead) showed that she can twist her head around nearly 180 degrees about as well as an owl can.

The siskin showed how it uses binocular vision to watch a person who has grabbed a camera.

The black-capped chickadee looked wise and alert with its sparkling eye and good feather detail as it sat in good light watching me.

At the Bear Center, Scott and the team are making the retail and entry area unrecognizable (in a good way) for everyone who comes. LilyPad Picnickers, be prepared for a shock.

Thank you for all you do.
