Mink and stump
The last video is an older video of a mink in the creek at the Bear Center sent by a Lily Fan. I like that one because it makes me think about the elevated walkway we want to make if it is affordable. It will be a platform to see bears, birds, and whatever lives with the bears. I’m envisioning pictures along the railing of birds that are nesting or frequently found at specific points along the walkway. The picture of the mink is from long ago but shows how the ears and face differ from the similar-sized pine marten we have been seeing.
I’m also thinking how far we’ve come, thanks to all that Lily Fans have given in time and money. The volunteer network of Lily Fans has made so much possible on the social media, for education, Bear Educators, Pond Chat Moderators, Lily Moderators, Den Watchers, Fundraising, and other volunteers helping in a myriad of ways around the world. And the many donations from dedicated Lily Fans, including some who can hardly afford it, provided more for bears and bear education than otherwise would have been possible.

On another note, if anyone has a Tasha Christmas Card, even if it has writing in it, they are becoming precious. I got an email from a Lily Fan who was a little slow in ordering and found them all gone. She and her husband have a framed collection of all the beautiful Christmas Cards the Bear Center has created, and they will be missing this one unless someone sends one to me at 145 West Conan Street, Ely, MN 55731. I’ll send it on to them. Also, I myself didn’t get any in time, so if extras are sent maybe I’ll cross out any writing on them and send them to my family. I can explain to them that I was too busy to order in time and had to beg for what I got. I’ll tell them that we made a card that was just too cute, and they sold out quickly. I better get a Four Bears t-shirt soon, come to think of it.
