The Couple, H&H, Etc. - UPDATE May 20, 2015

Samantha and AspenSamantha and AspenAt the WRI, Samantha and Aspen are still a couple. They hang out together but have a relaxed relationship. They can be close or out of sight of each other. They arrived together but did not leave together. After an hour or so here, Aspen went on his way, ambling up the driveway. Samantha seemed to take little notice. She had things of her own to do. But when she left, she unerringly followed in his footsteps.

Deer MouseDeer mouseA deer mouse and a red squirrel were among the animals out the window. Three different herring gulls flew in, including the one that has been coming here for years. Spam and sunflower seeds were on the menu. SamanthaSamanthaWhen the spam was gone, one of them turned to the sunflowers. The picture shows its reaction to a competitive red squirrel.

Holly seems to know the limits of Honey’s ability and is getting more comfortable with her. She hung out near Honey today, running when Honey gave chase, but coming back to hang out some more. Honey seemed to get tired of the pestering and retreated to her window den. Holly visited her there and retreated when Honey objected. Samantha leaving without AspenSamantha leaving aloneSpeaking of Lily, we’re looking forward to seeing her and Braveheart and their cubs one of these days. No mothers with cubs have been spotted in the community yet. They usually don’t move far until the cubs become agile enough to run. We’re expecting to see them or hear reports of them in a week or so.

Thank you for all you do.
