Some Lily Fans are asking for more than these snippets of activity from Juliet’s Den Cam. To make that happen, the team is working hard to begin making them available starting on January 23. Inquiring minds want to know. More on that tomorrow.
22 is the magic number among Bear Center volunteers. For each staff member, there are 22 volunteers, of which only 22% list Minnesota as their home state. Best of all, these dedicated people generously contributed a whopping 22,000+ hours of their time and talents, doing so much more to further education about bears than otherwise would be possible. To celebrate, staff and volunteers are planning a fun schedule of on-line events during National Volunteer Week, April 12-18.
If you'd like to become part of our volunteer family, fill out an application at http://www.bear.org/website/volunteer.html. We can use your special skills and talents.
With the bear moon waning , we think of the Native American legend that snowfall during the bear moon means bears are calling for snow to wash their newborn cubs. In our case, we will be naming the 40 or so we will likely see during the Black Bear Field Courses. A Lily Fan pointed out that Lily Fans sent many names some years back for us to select from. Yes, we have the list. One of the activities for Black Bear Field Course participants will be to select names from that list and from new names the participants will suggest.
Thank you for all you do.
