Gone But Not Forgotten - UPDATE January 22, 2020

Precious Hope

Dear Hope, born January 22, 2010 was Lily’s firstborn of 15 cubs in 6 litters. Hope is the one who brought together many thousands to learn about bears and make a difference for them. Her loss on September 16, 2011 brought grief around the world, and her memory still brings tears to many. Her death was a tragic loss in many ways, but her legacy continues—some of it in the Hope Learning Center Classroom that was named in her honor. As I write this, 13-year-old Lily lives on in a den that she is sharing with her four 1-year-old cubs. I am hoping we can show the family on den cams later this winter. The 5-minute den cam video of Hope’s birth is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vckzJF-fEc.
