Weather Changing, Bears Tailing Off? - UPDATE October 11, 2019

The day began with light rain and a little sleet as deer foraged for grass. Mid-afternoon brought brief sunshine and a rainbow. Deer in rain sleetDeer in rain sleetA snowstorm then blew in from the west that started when the temperature was still up to 40°F. Then the wind died and snow turned the ground white.

I didn’t see a bear all day until one showed up briefly around 7:30 PM, but there were bears that came by to eat overnight. I suspect some will be by tonight, too, if the snow doesn’t deter them.

If the snow doesn’t melt or cover their tracks, it might be an opportunity to track them in the morning to see what they are doing. I’d love to find a den here on the property.

Thank you for all you do.
