Honey, a Bunny, and a Woodchuck - UPDATE April 28, 2019

Honey’s grave is between the parking area and highway at the Bear Center. It is west of the entrance. The markers are a tribute to Honey and to all her followers who made it possible. HappyCub wrote a beautiful poem about Honey.

Snowshoe hareSnowshoe hareThe snowshoe hare in the bear enclosure yesterday morning was changing from white to brown, which they do in April around Ely. They change back to white in November and early December.

In addition to their wild foods, woodchucks eat romaine lettuce, other vegetables, pineapple, and seeds outside the window. Now that new green grass is coming up in the yard, they also eat that—along with deer.

White-throated Sparrows are back showing their colors.
