Day’s End Action - UPDATE March 17, 2018

At day’s end there was the usual flurry of action as the day shift ends and the night shift begins.ChickadeeChickadee

Out the window, the chickadees made their usual rush for sunflower seeds that ends a little after 6 PM when it was still plenty light.

Red squirrels do the same with one of them seen scolding a competitor with one foreleg raised in the “ready to attack” position. The potential victim is barely visible in the lower left corner of the picture. A squirrel looked out from a snow cave that is more visible after the recent melting.

A deer entered the yard for corn that we now throw by the handfuls from the second floor deck to expectant deer.

Last night, Peggy snapped a picture of a member of the night shift making off with a chicken leg and thigh that it had a hard time removing from the hard-frozen snow.

Thank you for all you do.
