Tasha, Kelly, NABC Membership - UPDATE November 30, 2017

Tasha has not been out of her den since the snow, it appears. That would be all of November. The picture shows her den with the snow intact.Tasha's den on 11/24/17Tasha's den on 11/24/17

On Wednesday, we were proud of our intern Kelly Mickael. I remember her best for how she worked so conscientiously with Donna with butterflies in the Ecology Hall. People said a lot of nice things about her. She did a presentation down in Iowa, and Intern Coordinator/Director of Education Judy Thon drove down for it and got this picture. Judy is starting to look for interns and bear educators for next year and wrote the words below.

Kelly Mickael one of our 2017 Summer interns at the NABC came to us from the Cornell College Fellows program sponsored by The Berry Career Institute, located in Mt Vernon Iowa. The Cornell College Fellows Program is Cornell's premier opportunity for high-level internships and experiential learning. The program was developed in 2005 through the vision of former Cornell Trustee Dean Riesen '79. Over 300 fellows have completed this intense program. Each "fellow" undergoes a series of reviews/interviews to find a partnered site to enhance their knowledge in their chosen field. Kelly MickaelKelly MickaelKelly found the NABC internship and applied for the fellowship program. Based on Kelly's experience and her feedback to the Berry Career Institute the NABC internship program will be a partnered site for potential future interns. Kelly gave an excellent 10 minute presentation on her NABC summer internship, she represented herself, the Fellows program and the NABC very well. Kelly thanked the entire NABC staff and volunteers for her fantastic experience this summer. She is already helping to recruit future NABC interns.

Director Scott Edgett and Office Manager Heidi Schiltz are announcing our December Membership Drive that sounds like a great deal. I see one of the complimentary gifts is a free combo DVD pack. I hope you get that and show it to your neighbors to spread the good word about bears. One of the DVD’s is Bearwalker of the Northwoods that they couldn’t watch without feeling something for bears. The other DVD is The Man Who Walks with Bears that is also hard-hitting for bears. I commend Scott and Heidi for including this DVD combo pack as an incentive to buy a membership. The words below are from them.
