Bears - UPDATE April 16, 2017

As I watch last night’s bear eat sunflower seed hearts out the window, I’m also glad to hear that HeHerbieHerbierbie, the 5-year-old son of Jewel that we all saw being born on January 22, 2012, showed up last night at a feeding station about 3 miles away. The landowner wrote: Our first bear arrived at 9:15 pm tonight (4/15) and it was Herbie. :-) (Verified by the location of the right ear notch). He came through the winter very well - he looks healthy and was happy to see peanuts and sunflower seeds.

First bearFirst bearI still don’t know who the bear is here. He’s a little skittish but knows the program. We’ll figure it out.

At the Bear Center, Ted was checking out his pool and probably wondering when it will get filled. The hose to it is buried, so we’re waiting for the frost to thaw.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmKgNxxKjpA.

The staff put together a great chart of the ambassador bears’ weights in fall and spring for the last few years. Click here to view.

Thank you for all you do.
