Undaunted by Cold – UPDATE January 6, 2014

Goldfinch fluffed against the coldGoldfinch fluffed against the cold  It's official.  Ely was the coldest city in Minnesota at 7:53 AM this morning with a temperature of minus 33.  But it takes more than a little cold to stop the Bear Center Staff!  They knew the governor had closed all schools today because the cold was too dangerous to ask kids to go out.  They knew the wind chill made temperatures feel like the minus 50's.  They all came to work!  Their observations of Ted, Honey, and Holly were that these three were doing what they should be doing.  Holly was so buried that only a plate-sized area was visible.  Honey and Ted were both sleeping with their heads buried.

We’re looking forward to temperatures nearly 50 degrees higher by the end of the week.  Forecasts are for highs around 28 F.

Thank you for all you do.
