Lily, Jewel, Ted, Fox – UPDATE January 30, 2013

Ted's wall - Jan 30, 2013Ted's wall - Jan 30, 2013  Lily’s Den Cam was down a lot last night and the Technology Team seems at a loss as to why.  Grasping at straws, they have contacted a ham radio operator 3 miles from Lily’s den to explore possibilities of signal interference.  Some of the testing has involved equipment intended for Ted, which is one reason Ted doesn’t have a Den Cam yet.  Another is that he is worse than Lily for piling up bedding, making it hard to see anything anyway.

Jewel and yearling - Jan 30, 2013Jewel and yearling - Jan 30, 2013We captured some of the activity in Jewel’s den for a video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EBS0HDJ1o4.

On the fox, Lily Fans knew people who knew people and the DNR is now okay with capturing and helping, if possible.  Also, we received pictures.  From the looks of it, the right front foot will eventually fall off whether the trap is removed or not.  The trap is almost completely closed, meaning the bone is crushed or gone and the foot is hanging on by some skin and probably a tendon or two.  Steel arrives - Jan 30, 2013Steel arrives - Jan 30, 2013Feeling is likely gone.  If someone can remove the trap, it will be easier for the fox to navigate.  The fox will be recognizable, and people across the fox’s range will be telling their neighbors how the fox is doing.  Hopefully, some of the reports will trickle this way.

At the Bear Center, steel for the roof for the Hope Learning Center arrived this morning.

Thank you for all you do.
